Fernando Tatis Jr. is a true superstar and San Diego Padres fans get to witness that reality every single night. Even though the young star missed some time this season, he leads the National League with 27 home runs so far this year.

Tatis’ latest blast is one that has to be seen. The ball was hit so hard, it was a hazard as it streaked toward the outfield seats.

Fernando Tatis Jr. actually destroys the baseball

There you have your average, everyday 116 mile per hour home run. Jon Lester threw an absolute meatball over the plate and he paid the price. Unfortunately for the Padres, the Washington Nationals still ended up winning the game.

The Padres still enter Tuesday with a 50-37 record and happen to have one of the best players in baseball in the lineup. Tatis’ home run was a new personal record in terms of exit velocity and puts him 11th overall in the category this season. Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani lead the way with 119 mile per hour blasts.

The home run also helps Tatis build his lead over the surging Kyle Schwarber in the home run category. In all of MLB, he is tied with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and four behind Ohtani.

Being able to track the exit velocity of home runs makes it fun to see who is truly hitting the hardest in the entire league. And the crazy thing about this home run from Tatis is that it came on a breaking ball. If this same swing connected on a fastball, who knows how hard the ball would have left the yard.
