Must make trades for each National League East team: Philadelphia Phillies

Trade idea: Acquire Alex Reyes

Accessing the problem of a few teams can be a bit difficult. Either there are too many holes to fill or their glaring need is difficult to fully comprehend. In the case of the Philadelphia Phillies, they have one ridiculously large issue, closing the show.

This isn’t basketball or football where you can milk the clock and gain more possession time. At some point, the other team is going to get their chance. As been the case all season long, when push comes to shove, the Phillies just can’t get it done when it matters most. With only 11 total saves on the year, the Phillies rank in the bottom ten in the league. Their six blown saves top the charts in that department. Also, their save percentage of 64.7 is second-worst in all of baseball.

Last time we checked, Alex Reyes isn’t helping the St. Louis Cardinals get over the postseason hump. Instead of allowing him to sit around and continue to watch his season go to waste, the Phillies could attempt to get their hands on him. The 20 saves of Reyes not only tie him for fourth amongst league leaders but his ERA of 1.52 is off the charts.

All around, the Phillies are good just about everywhere. If they can simply find a player to close the show when needed, that’ll give them an outside chance of catching the Mets for the division lead.
