Must make trades for each National League Central team: Pittsburgh Pirates

Trade idea: Acquire prospect Nick Allen

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been God-awful this season. At the moment, simply identifying all of their weaknesses is essentially an impossible task. The holes are everywhere on both offense and defense.

What the Pirates should ultimately do is look to get their hands on several top prospects such as Oakland Athletics infielder, Nick Allen. It could be nearly impossible for the Pirates to get their hands on him considering that he’s batting .340 and has a slugging percentage of .503 in the minors. In fact, the Athletics would be crazy to give him away. But, despite their horrendous record, the Pirates do have a few good players that the As could find intriguing such as Bryan Reynolds.

More than anything, the As are right in the thick of things in the American League West and could be looking to solidify a top spot by adding a few good players. As for the Pirates, they have absolutely no hope of making the playoffs and their future postseason hopes aren’t too bright either. It doesn’t matter what the Pirates have to do, they have to get their hands on Nick Allen or any other top prospect.
