Must make trades for each National League West team: Colorado Rockies

Trade idea: Move on from Trevor Story

Another lost season? Not surprising.

For what will be the third campaign in a row and the tenth in the past 12 years, the Colorado Rockies will not be making a postseason appearance.

Throughout all of the ups and downs, Trevor Story has stood firmly behind his squad. In the process, he’s put together a few fabulous seasons. In 2018 and 2019 in particular, he was outstanding, he registered at least 35 homers and 85 RBIs.

If the Rockies hadn’t already traded away Nolan Arenado in February, maybe we wouldn’t be focused on Story here. However, with the Rockies clearly showing that they’re ready to start over, it’s time to push Story out the door to the highest bidder. Like normal, he’s having a pretty strong year. At this point, he’s crushed 11 home runs, stolen 16 bases and brought in 41 RBIs.

Story is only 28, so a team with higher postseason hopes can grab him for not only this season but for the foreseeable future. It’ll be hard for fans to accept it but it’s about time the Rockies took their rebuild seriously and go all in.
