While almost every team has been able to play in front of their home fans, the Toronto Blue Jays have been the exception. They have been baseball’s ultimate road warriors since the 2020 season began, playing their home games in Buffalo and Dunedin. That extended road trip will finally come to an end on July 30, when the Blue Jays will return to Toronto for the first time since the end of the 2019 campaign.

When the Blue Jays finally do return home, they have plans to honor frontline and healthcare workers. The team will make 250 tickets available each game for those workers to take in a game at the Rogers Centre.

Toronto Blue Jays finally getting chance to thank frontline and healthcare workers

As the pandemic rampaged throughout the globe, a greater focus was given to those workers. Their jobs became so much more important in the eyes of everyday people, as they were the ones tasked with keeping the economy going and making sure that people got the supplies and treatment needed.

While there are more details to come as to that ticket giveaway, it is still the type of gesture that every other team has been able to do. As teams have been able to play in front of their home crowds, they have been able to honor those who were able to keep the community going during such a time of need.

As it is, the Blue Jays should be playing in front of a raucous crowd. While other teams had a rabid fan experience when they were able to let their supporters back in the stadium, no team had the type of wait that the Blue Jays have.

Adding in those tickets for the frontline and healthcare workers should only further that moment. People remember the sacrifices that were made, all the hours and the nonsense that those people had to deal with daily. Now, in the Toronto area, they can finally be rewarded.
