New York Yankees: Cat on field at Yankee Stadium steals the show (Video)
The New York Yankees did not play all that well Monday night. But fans in attendance did not go home without a show.
It was the bottom of the eighth inning and the Yankees were trailing the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 7-1. That is when the show started, as a startled cat ran on the field and provided an amazing chase.
Cat gives Yankees fans a show Monday night
First off, we feel for this scared cat. It was being chased and was obviously not having a great time, but still received more MVP chants than most players on the roster.
It remains fascinating how often this happens. Cats seem to be running on the field all the time, begging the question of where exactly they are coming from.
The cat at Yankee Stadium ended up providing a nice distraction during an ugly loss to the Orioles. New arrival Andrew Heaney allowed four home runs and took home the loss. It is fair to note all four were solo shots, but the trend is not exactly stress-relieving for fans.
Once again, we hope all went well with the latest cat to run on an MLB field. Yankees fans were showering the feline with love, but the fact it was running wild proved how scared it was. If anything, it is a good thing no one tried to pick it up. That usually ends badly and with scratches for the human tasked with that awful job.
The Yankees lost, but the Yankee Stadium cat won.
