Milwaukee Brewers billboard in Chicago misses on mark to troll Cubs
A billboard featuring the Milwaukee Brewers in Chicago is missing on its supposed purpose of trolling the Chicago Cubs.
Milwaukee Brewers fans were deemed the winners of a recent promotion by FOX Sports in online voting for The FOX Sports Ultimate Fan Bracket. It was supposed to be a moment of great pride for Milwaukee supporters, and the prize was having a billboard placed in Chicago so all Cubs fans could see they had been beaten by their rivals in the fan vote.
In theory, it’s a great idea. However, the placement of the billboard is a head-scratcher.

While the billboard was up in time for the Brewers and Cubs to renew their National League Central rivalry this week at Wrigley Field, as you can see by the map, the sign is nowhere near Wrigley Field. Its location on the corner of LaSalle & Grand is roughly seven miles (20 minutes) from Wrigleyille. While Cubs fans may see it while they’re walking around the Windy City, it’s nowhere near convenient to the Friendly Confines.
The only possible explanation for the billboard (and it’s a stretch) is that it’s close to a Red Line (which runs to Wrigley and carries plenty of Cubs fans to games) stop in Chicago, but it’s still a three-block walk to get from the billboard’s location to the L stop.
So if the billboard was going to be placed nowhere close to Wrigley, maybe it could have been in the area along Interstate 94 since that’s the path many Brewers fans will take to get from Milwaukee to Chicago for the game? Just a thought.
If the point was for the billboard to be a reminder to Cubs fans that their Brewers rivals had beaten them in a contest, the point was missed completely with the placement of the billboard.
Good idea. Bad execution.
