Every game is important for the New York Yankees at this point in the season. As they are battling to return to the postseason, attempting to make up ground in both the AL East and in the Wild Card standings, the Yankees need every victory they can get. On Saturday, Aaron Judge did his part to make that happen.

As the White Sox continued to battle to either tie the game or pull ahead, Judge would come through every time. He had four go-ahead RBI in the contest, tying a major league record that had been reached on three other occasions.

Aaron Judge leads New York Yankees to needed win

Judge finished a triple short of the cycle, both in the game and in regards to generating go-ahead RBI. He ended the day 3-4 with four RBI and two runs scored, hitting a double and a homer as he accounted for five of the Yankees’ seven runs on his own.

Even though the Yankees lineup as a whole has disappointed, the same cannot be said of Judge. He has produced a .286/.370/.531 batting line in his 440 plate appearances, hitting 26 homers while driving in 63 runs. Judge has been everything that the Yankees have needed.

If the Yankees are going to climb back into a playoff berth, they may need Judge to continue to put the team on his back. He has been the most consistent member of the lineup this season, one of the few players that has not been a disappointment. He showed how much he means to the lineup, and the Yankees chances, on Saturday.

The Yankees cannot count on that type of production from Judge every night. Eventually, someone else will need to step up, something the front office recognized as they acquired Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo. And yet, it is still Judge who is driving the bus, doing his best to push the Yankees into the playoffs.
