Los Angeles Dodgers may have Trevor Bauer decision soon
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without Trevor Bauer since he was placed on administrative leave in the wake of his sexual assault investigation. Aside from his leave continuing to be extended, there has not been much in terms of his future, either legally or in regards to his pitching career.
But that is starting to change. On Friday, the Pasadena Police Department announced that their investigation into the alleged assault has been presented to the District Attorney’s office, which will determine whether or not the case will be prosecuted or rejected.
Los Angeles Dodgers may get clarity on Trevor Bauer soon
Earlier on Friday, Major League Baseball had announced that Bauer’s leave had been extended for another week, keeping him out until September 3 at the earliest. However, even if he is reinstated at that date, it is difficult to imagine that he would be ready to retake his spot in the rotation automatically.
There had been news in the case previously. Back on August 18, a request for a permanent restraining order against Bauer by another accuser was denied, with the judge saying that Bauer did not exceed consensual boundaries and did not warrant such an order. Likewise, the protective order that had been in place against him was dissolved.
Obviously, this does not mean that Bauer will return any time soon. The results of this investigation need to be examined before any charges, if any, are determined. Even if Bauer does not face any legal consequences from what happened, the league may well suspend him regardless as they have done to others in the past.
What this does indicate is that the wheels are certainly in motion. Likewise, if the legal investigation has been wrapped up, Major League Baseball may be close to finishing theirs as well. One way or another, Bauer’s status could be determined in the coming weeks, or even days.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been in limbo with Trevor Bauer. Now that the legal investigation is done, they may get clarity relatively soon.
