The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets will conclude their pivotal three-game series at Citi Field on Wednesday night. With both teams still within striking distance of the second National League Wild Card spot, the Cardinals-Mets matchup will carry plenty of intrigue and be one of the games on the daily MLB slate that garners the most interest.

New York took two of three games in May when they visited Busch Stadium. The Cardinals have already taken the first two games of the series at Citi Field, with a 7-0 victory on Monday and 7-6 win on Tuesday.

Let’s take a look at some things to know about Wednesday’s Cardinals-Mets game.

What time is the St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets game tonight?

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. (Eastern)/6:10 p.m. (Central)

What TV stations will show the St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets game?

Bally Sports Midwest will carry the game from the St. Louis point of view while SNY will broadcast the perspective of the Mets. The game will also be available on MLB.tv (although blackout restrictions may apply).

What are some of the odds for the St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets game?

According to WynnBet, the money line for St. Louis is +130 and -140 for the Mets. Total over/under runs are set at 8.0 while New York’s over/under is at 4.0 and the Cardinals are at 3.5.

St. Louis Cardinals probable pitcher tonight: Jon Lester

Lester’s first two starts in St. Louis were a disaster and we wondered aloud if the Cardinals had made a big mistake in signing him. However, in his last six starts, the 37-year-old southpaw has settled into his role and helped the Cardinals in their playoff push, posting a 2.67 ERA in that span. However, his 5.24 FIP during those six starts (covering 33.2 innings) is still a cause for concern.

Lester (overall 5-6, 4.75 ERA this season) has faced the Mets once in 2021, limiting them to two runs over six innings while scattering seven hits and striking out six as a member of the Washington Nationals on June 19.

New York Mets probable pitcher tonight: Tylor Megill

Since making his Major League debut on June 23, the 26-year-old right-hander has made 15 starts, compiling 77.2 innings and a 4.06 ERA/4.26 FIP. That includes his last outing on September 10 where he surrendered just four hits and two runs in seven innings in a Subway Series showdown against the New York Yankees.

Megill has made nine starts at Citi Field, where opponents are hitting just .224 against him and he’s logged a 1.16 WHIP.
