Albert Pujols getting playoff run with Los Angeles Dodgers
The Angels had felt that they had their missing piece with Albert Pujols. Adding his powerful bat to the lineup would be a key part in bringing Los Angeles to the postseason, at least in theory. As it turns out, Pujols has seen far more action in the playoffs with the Los Angeles Dodgers than he did in his decade with the Angels.
Pujols found his way to the postseason just once in his decade with the Angels. He had three games in the playoffs in 2014, collecting two hits in his 13 plate appearances as the Angels were swept by the Royals. However, the expectation was that the Angels would eventually return to the postseason, with Pujols a key part of that lineup.

But that run never happened. Between the Angels’ inability to find anything that resembled a pitching staff and an impressive run by the Astros, the Angels were unable to get back to the postseason. Pujols, meanwhile, became more and more of an albatross, eventually being released by the Angels in the middle of May.
Picked up by the Dodgers four days later, Pujols settled into being a solid role player. He still showed a bit of pop in his bat, providing respectable production when called upon. Although he may not get many starts in the postseason, he still has the type of bat that can be useful in the latter innings.
As it is, Pujols has already received as many games with the Dodgers in the postseason as he did during his entire time with the Angels. Pujols has three games with four plate appearances, matching his Angels’ total of two hits. If the Dodgers continue to advance, it would not be a surprise to see Pujols continue to make an impact.
Albert Pujols is finally getting his playoff run in California. It is just happening with the Los Angeles Dodgers instead of the Angels.
