Kyle Schwarber willing to return to Boston Red Sox
Kyle Schwarber picked the perfect time to have the best season of his major league career. The Boston Red Sox outfielder shook off a horrendous 2020 campaign with the Cubs after signing in Washington, not only performing well with the Nationals, but becoming a postseason hero in Boston. He is certain to generate a good deal of attention this offseason.
But Schwarber is not necessarily looking to leave. According to reports, he is open to a return to Boston, saying that the team has been unbelievable, and, if they wanted to have such a conversation, he would “be all ears.”

It would certainly make sense for Schwarber to be interested in returning to Boston. He had an excellent postseason run with the team, and considering that they are a major market, getting the Red Sox interested would only increase his earning potential this offseason.
As it is, Schwarber will have far more suitors than he did when he was unceremoniously let go by the Cubs following the 2020 campaign. Between his time in Washington and Boston, he produced a combined 148 OPS+ with 32 homers and 19 doubles in his 471 plate appearances. That OPS+ was easily the best of his career, and had he not missed time due to his hamstring injury, he may well have set a new career best in homers as well.
He was also exactly what the Red Sox needed. Schwarber typically found himself hitting second with Boston, another on base machine with pop that would help set the table. His impressive production in that spot helped the Red Sox hold on to a playoff berth, advancing all the way to the ALCS.
The Red Sox do have plenty of work to do this offseason. They will need to address their rotation and bullpen while looking for pieces in the outfield. However, if they are willing to discuss a reunion with Schwarber, he is more than interested in making that a reality.
