Los Angeles Dodgers have last home World Series win – in 2018
Let’s head back to Game Three of the 2018 World Series. It was an 18 inning classic, won by the Los Angeles Dodgers when Max Muncy belted a walk-off three run homer. While the Dodgers lost the World Series that year, that game was an instant classic and one that will be remembered for years to come.
That game also has an interesting place in history. Muncy’s walk-off homer marked the last time that a home team has won a World Series game, as over three years have passed since that moment.

A total of 16 World Series games have been played since that time. In every single one of them, the road team has won. The incredible 2019 World Series, which saw the road team win all seven of those contests, no longer appears to be such an anomaly.
That streak continued in an emphatic fashion on Monday. Jorge Soler belted a leadoff homer, Adam Duvall had a two run shot in the third, and the Braves jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead. Even though Charlie Morton was lost to a fractured fibula, Atlanta was still able to cruise to a comfortable victory.
The Astros find themselves having to buck multiple historic trends. Not only will they have to win a game at home in order to take home their second championship, but they will also have to defeat the Taco Bell Curse. Teams that have stolen that base to give the country a free taco are 7-2 heading into this year, and have not lost since 2017.
In theory, the Astros have the firepower to make that happen. Their pitching was a key factor in reaching the World Series, even if they are missing their ace. But the Astros have not won a home World Series game since their ten inning victory in Game Five in 2017, nearly four years ago. That will need to change, otherwise, the Dodgers may hold the honor of the last home victory in the World Series for a bit longer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the last home game in the World Series – in 2018. Maybe that will change over the next few days.
