The Zack Scott era with the New York Mets has reportedly come to an end after reports surfaced on Monday that Scott would not be retained in his current role as acting general manager.

A little less than a year after being hired by the New York Mets, Zack Scott will reportedly not be a part of the team’s future plans

Reported by SNY’s Andy Martino on Monday evening, the news about Scott isn’t shocking, considering he is heading to trial in December for a DWI tagged on him at the end of August after he was found sleeping in his car. He was placed on administrative leave following the incident and his case is due to come to trial on December 8.

It’s been a tough year for Mets team president Sandy Alderson, who took over baseball operations for the team along with assistant GMs Ian Levin and Bryn Alderson upon Scott being placed on administrative leave. Scott was elevated to the acting general manager position in January when Jared Porter was fired from the GM position after it was discovered he had sent unsolicited, lewd text messages and images to a female reporter. Porter has been placed on the ineligible list by Major League Baseball, extending through at least the 2022 season.

Add to that the Mets missing the playoffs and subsequently firing manager Luis Rojas, plus missing out on some of its biggest upper management targets (Billy Beane, Theo Epstein, and David Stearns) to come in and try to fix the organization and it is easy to see why Steve Cohen may be very happy to flip the calendar to 2022 and leave this year behind.

However, also on Monday, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported that the Boston Red Sox are believed to be willing to allow the Mets to interview executive vice president/assistant general manager Raquel Ferreira for a position with the team. With all of this swirling around the Mets, as Heyman asked in his tweet, will she be interested in switching franchises?
