The Atlanta Braves have an opportunity on Tuesday that few could have seen coming. With a victory, they will celebrate their first championship in 26 years. It will be even more remarkable considering the injuries that the Braves have had to overcome and their late season surge to reach the postseason.
Through it all, there was one person who believed. Not only did Trevor Plouffe get the World Series matchup correct, but he predicted that the Braves would win in six games. This prediction also happened to be made on March 31.
Atlanta Braves can turn Trevor Plouffe into baseball’s Nostradamus
The Braves were not on many people’s radar heading into the season. The NL East was expected to belong to the Mets, whose flashy moves and new owner captured headlines. Even if the Mets failed to capture the division, the Phillies and Nationals were all considered to be higher in the pecking order than Atlanta.
The Astros were not as unique of a pick. While they still needed to get past the A’s in the AL West, that division was viewed as being a lot easier than the NL East. As it turns out, the A’s collapsed in August, giving Houston a relatively easy path to the playoffs.
No matter the paths before them, picking both World Series teams is an impressive accomplishment. All too often, those preseason predictions go by the wayside after the first few months as teams expected to contend fall apart. Plouffe was able to correctly predict both the Braves and Astros.
It is even more impressive that Plouffe may have gotten the length of the series correct. Game Six is happening on Tuesday, with the Braves holding a 3-2 advantage. If they take care of business, Plouffe may have a new career as baseball’s Nostradamus.
Trevor Plouffe predicted that the Atlanta Braves would win the World Series in six games at the start of the year. He could be proven right on Tuesday.
