Nothing has changed with the Los Angeles Angels over the years. The shopping list remains the same every offseason – add a top of the rotation arm and fix their pitching staff. And every year, they fail in that attempt, slapping bandages on the rotation and the bullpen in hopes that maybe, this time, things will be different.

But that typically is not the case. As such, the Angels are once again staring at the same shopping list, as they are again looking to improve their rotation.

Los Angeles Angels continue pursuit of pitching

At least the cupboard is not entirely barren this time. Shohei Ohtani has displayed the potential to be a frontline starter. However, he has yet to pitch an entire season as he missed a few starts in 2021. However, the rest of the rotation does not have that same potential at this point.

More Angels. Trout expecting big things this offseason. light

The Angels do have several options available in regards to upgrading their rotation. They had scouts at Justin Verlander‘s showcase earlier in the week. The Angels have already contacted the representatives for Robbie Ray and Eduardo Rodriguez to gauge their interest in heading to Los Angeles. An effort is being made.

But the same could be said in years past. The Angels made a strong run at Gerrit Cole only to come up empty. That has been the case in other years as well, as the Angels make their attempts, only to find themselves adding the likes of Matt Harvey because everyone else signed elsewhere.

Yet hope springs eternal. Maybe this time, the Angels will get those pitchers they need to actually contend. And maybe, if they do so, they can convince Ohtani that they are serious about contending for the postseason. It just needs to actually happen.

Next. 3 moves for the Angels this offseason. dark

The Los Angeles Angels are on the hunt for pitching this offseason. Of course, the same can be said for the past few years.
