Nick Castellanos, formerly of the Cincinnati Reds, could be a target for the San Diego Padres

Leading off for the San Diego Padres, the second baseman Jake Cronenworth

Jake Cronenworth would be the leadoff man for the San Diego Padres in their dream lineup. In his first two seasons in the majors, he has got on-base at a clip of .343, which is why he would be best in the leadoff spot. He mainly hit third or fourth in the Padres lineup in 2021 but, with the other power guys below him, this would be the best spot for him.

Defensively, he can play any of the infield positions (with third base being his least familiar) but second base is his best spot.

Hitting second for the San Diego Padres, the right fielder Nick Castellanos

The San Diego Padres would a) love to get a big bat on the free agent market, b) would like to have him be an outfielder, and c) love to have Nick Castellanos.

Castellanos will have plenty of suitors but especially since two of the three people predicting a destination for the Top 50 MLB Free Agents for MLB Trade Rumors picked San Diego as the place Castellanos would land, we will pick him here too.

Nick Castellanos primarily hit third for the Cincinnati Reds in 2021, but he did hit second for 33 starts (34 games total) and he was even better. In the two-hole, he hit .370/.418/.711 with 12 of his 34 home runs.

Especially with the guys protecting him in the lineup, Castellanos would thrive in the two-hole.

Defensively, he would not be great in right field. However, considering that right field is not a huge patrolling ground, the Padres could use him in right field.
