Baseball Hall of Fame’s “Modern Baseball” Era Committee will meet in December 2023 and 2025

Baseball Hall of Fame’s “Modern Baseball” Era Committee will meet in December 2023 and 2025. That committee will look at players, managers, umpires, and executives who made the bulk of their impact in the game from 1970 through 1987.

Some people could overlap eras (Dick Allen is one that overlaps eras, for example) but the last time the committee met was in December 2019 for the 2020 Hall of Fame class. They inducted the first executive director of the MLBPA, Marvin Miller, and former St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers catcher Ted Simmons.

The other people that appeared on the ballot were Dwight Evans, Dave Parker, Steve Garvey, Lou Whitaker, Tommy John, Thurman Munson, Don Mattingly, and Dale Murphy.

Others that should or could be considered are Dave Concepcion, Keith Hernandez, Dave Stieb, Luis Tiant, Ron Guidry, Dave Stewart, Bob Boone, Mickey Lolich, Frank Tanana, Jack Clark, Willie Randolph, Brian Downing, Dick Allen, Graig Nettles, Fred Lynn, Bobby Bonds, Rusty Staub, Rick Reuschel, Ken Griffey, Sr., Frank White, Chet Lemon, Jerry Reuss, George Foster, Don Baylor, Darrell Evans, Buddy Bell, Jim Sundberg, Vida Blue, Jose Cruz, Sr., Bill Madlock, Ron Cey, Cecil Cooper, Doug DeCinces, Bobby Grich, Cesar Cedeno, Toby Harrah, Steve Rogers, Jerry Koosman, Al Oliver, Amos Otis, Ken Singleton, Bert Campaneris, Wilbur Wood, Reggie Smith, Jim Perry, Sal Bando, Jimmy Wynn, and Andy Messersmith.
