It has not taken long for Marcus Stroman to become beloved by Chicago Cubs fans. He had already been an active presence on social media over the years and has taken to his new fanbase almost instantly. Cubs fans have taken to Stroman as well, with those who received a new jersey of his tweeting their new pitcher.

One fan was unable to take part in the joy but did his best anyway. He taped a piece of paper with “Stroman 0” to his shirt, pretending that he also received a new jersey. Fortunately, Stroman was there to take care of the situation.

Marcus Stroman adds to his legendary status with Chicago Cubs fans

It obviously helps to have a relative with the apparel company as Stroman does. But one has to imagine that would not have been an impediment to his being able to bring some joy to that Cubs fan’s day, especially after his most recent contract.

Moments such as that will only help Stroman become even more of a fan favorite in Chicago. His personality and infectious attitude have made him someone that fans of virtually every team wanted to have on their roster when he became a free agent.

Goodwill only goes so far in the offseason however. Stroman will need to back his actions up on the diamond as well, proving that he can be that top of the rotation arm that they need. Considering that he has posted a career 3.63 ERA and a 1.266 WHiP over his 1028.1 innings, it is possible that he can be a part of the solution.

Stroman may not be the ace that the Cubs need, but he is far better than anything else that had been in their rotation to that point. He is the perfect start to improving the rotation, and if his performance on the mound can match how he has interacted with the fanbase, he will become even more beloved in Chicago.

Marcus Stroman has become a legend with Chicago Cubs fans before he has even thrown a pitch. Hopefully, that will not change when the season starts.
