The Los Angeles Angels have plenty of work to do this offseason in their quest to return to the playoffs. They already began to make progress before the lockout, actually addressing their rotation and bullpen. However, there are still questions in the lineup despite the money that has been spent on hitters.

One of those question marks is at short where Luis Renfugo is currently atop the depth chart. However, Carlos Correa may have given Angels’ fans a reason to hope with his holiday photo.

No, Correa himself is not wearing Angels’ gear. However, the fact that at least one member of his family is does cause an eyebrow to be raised. After all, none of the people in the holiday photo are wearing a Correa jersey from his time in Houston.

It is possible that there is a logical reason. His relative could be a fan of Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani and is wearing a jersey they received as a gift. Its presence in this photograph could be purely coincidental.

Normally, one would not look too much into this picture. However, with the ongoing lockout, teams are unable to officially negotiate with free agents. Correa is the top free agent left and any team with an opening at short would be interested in bringing him on board for the right price.

That price is going to be the question mark. Correa has already reportedly turned down a ten year deal worth $275 million from the Tigers, who then pivoted to Javier Baez. The Angels have displayed a willingness to spend for the right players, especially on the bigger names in free agency. Correa not only fits that bill but would also fill a major hole in the lineup.
