Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez has an arm that has him on what seems to be a quick path to a Major League Baseball mound. However, on social media, he is also showing he has a leg that could benefit a football team as well.

Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez showed off his athleticism with this long field goal

Check out the video of this kick from Rodriguez, ranked as the second-highest prospect in the Baltimore Orioles farm system heading into the 2022 campaign.

The 11th overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, Rodriguez went a combined 9-1 last season with a 2.36 ERA in 23 starts between High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Bowie last season. He threw a clean inning in the 2019 Futures Game and was a part of the alternate training site for the Orioles during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, so Rodriguez seems to be on the fast path to making his MLB debut. MLB.com predicts that could well happen during the 2022 season.

Having turned 22 in November, Rodriguez has shown a 99-mph fastball on the mound and now a 40-yard field goal, making for an impressive double play of his own.

Just how dominant has Rodriguez been on the mound in the minor leagues? In 2019, he averaged 12.35 strikeouts per nine innings and upped that to 14.07 last season. Against Double-A batters, the right-hander whiffed 121 batters in 79.2 innings while walking just 22, helping him to a 0.87 WHIP.

Opponents also hit just .159 against him last season, leading all minor league pitchers who threw 100 innings or more and helping him earn the Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season.

While Rodriguez has his sights set on helping the Orioles, perhaps he can also fill in if the Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker ever needs a break from his kicking duties.
