While Atlanta Braves fans nervously wait for the current Major League Baseball lockout to end (and the ongoing saga involving Freddie Freeman and his potential return to the Braves to end as well), they are finding hope of a reunion in Atlanta in a baseball card shown off by Topps on Twitter.

A tweet from Topps showing Freddie Freeman in an Atlanta Braves uniform as part of a 2022 baseball set was exactly what Braves fans needed to see earlier in the week.

Certainly there are questions about Freeman returning to the Braves in 2022, with the two sides unable to find common ground on a contract agreement before the MLB lockout went into effect late on December 1. However, there are plenty of reasons for Braves fans to believe that Freeman will be back with the team in 2022, including some words he shared with Ronald Acuña Jr. shortly after Atlanta clinched a World Series victory over the Houston Astros.

Freeman has never played for another MLB organization since being drafted by the Braves in the second round of the 2007 MLB draft. A Southern California native, there is a thought, however, that the Los Angeles Dodgers could woo Freeman back to the area where he was born and raised and named as the Orange County Player of the Year in 2007 by The Orange County Register.

Of course, the Dodgers, Braves, and every other MLB team would love to have Freeman anchoring its lineup. However, Freeman has made it clear that he wants to stay in Atlanta and try to lead the Braves to consecutive World Series titles.

It’s those words, as well as flashes of Freeman in a Braves uniform with 2022 as a part of a baseball card promotion, that gives Atlanta fans hope even during a dark winter with offseason signings halted by a lockout.
