Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, or Rays: Highest over/under win total in 2022
Which team in the American League East is setting the bar to have the most wins in 2022? Will it be the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, or Tampa Bay Rays? We looked at the over/under numbers for 2022 regular-season wins to get a sense for what teams were currently shining the brightest in the eyes of the oddsmakers as the Major League Baseball lockout creeps along.
Do the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, or Tampa Bay Rays have the highest over/under numbers for wins in the 2022 regular season?
According to the numbers currently (as of press time) posted by WynnBET, the race for the American League East title will be another mad dash worth watching in 2022. However, the betting establishment also believes, as of now, there will be a new AL East division champion next season.
Here are the current over/under numbers from WynnBET for wins during the 2022 season for each team in the AL East:
New York Yankees: 93.0 (finished 92-70 last season, Wild Card team)
Boston Red Sox: 90.0 (finished 92-70 last season, Wild Card team)
Toronto Blue Jays: 90.0 (finished 91-71 last season)
Tampa Bay Rays: 89.5 (finished 100-62 last season, division champion)
Baltimore Orioles: 60.5 (finished 52-110 last season)
While these numbers will certainly change once the lockout is over and teams begin to add to their lineups through trades or free agent signings, the current projections are very interesting, with 3.5 games separating the top four teams.
It’s also very interesting to see the Yankees at the top of the division despite the team being relatively quiet before the lockout went into effect. However, while the Yankees currently have the highest over/under win total in the American League (the Houston Astros are close behind at 92.0), they are not the highest in all of baseball. That belongs to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who currently sit at 95.0, well ahead of the defending World Champion Atlanta Braves (88.0) in the National League.
Another interesting note on these numbers is that every bet currently comes with a +101 betting line. That means that for every $25 wager a bettor might place, the return would be $25.25.
