We have seen Mike Trout‘s obsession with weather events over the years. The Los Angeles Angels outfield seemingly has Jim Cantore on speed dial and once chased a snowstorm in Arizona after practice in spring training. It is not a surprise that he would be keeping an eye on the major storm systems while waiting for the lockout to end and spring training to start.

Trout is doing just that with a major storm that is expected to hit the northeast this weekend. While most people are hoping it heads further out to sea, he is hoping it moves westward, leading to higher snowfall accumulations.

It is understandable that there will be plenty of eyes on this storm. There is the potential for it to be historic in terms of accumulations, with some areas expected to see close to 2.5 feet of snow based on current projections. Blizzard warnings are in place for coastal areas and there will be high winds.

Of course, that can all change depending on whether or not the storm drifts further out to sea or heads inland. The further out to sea the storm goes, the less snow these areas will get. While that would make commuting easier, it would also lessen the impact that those watching the storm may be hoping for.

Trout is certainly hoping that this storm tracks further west. If he could, he would lasso the storm and drag it closer to shore so as to get as much of the weather as he possibly could. Maybe he will take a trek to the Boston area for the weekend and be able to experience the potential blizzard for himself.
