A.J. Brown likely does not have any regrets about the path he chose in life. The Tennessee Titans wide receiver has become a star in the NFL and is set to receive a significant contract as his rookie deal is due to expire. However, that does not mean that he does not think about what would have happened had he signed with the San Diego Padres.
That was especially the case after a recent tweet highlighted Bo Jackson‘s amazing 1989 season in both the majors and the NFL. Brown began to think about being a two way player himself, saying that all he needs is a workout.
Sometimes i think about playing both sports again 🤔@Padres all I need is a workout. I still got 😎 https://t.co/1PRo7ffAWm

A.J. Brown still thinks about joining San Diego Padres
There was a time when Brown was a highly regarded outfield prospect. He only fell to the 19th round, where he was selected by the Padres, due to his strong desire to play college football. Teams were not going to waste a high draft pick on someone that was likely to pursue other interests.
That decision certainly paid off. He was a second round draft pick out of Old Miss, taken with the 51st selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. In his three years in the league, he had 185 catches for 2995 yards and 24 touchdowns. Brown was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and appears to have a long future in the NFL ahead of him.
Unless something drastically changes, it is unlikely that Brown will play for the Padres organization. The days of the Bo Jacksons and the Deion Sanders are over, especially after Jackson’s hip injury ruined both careers. The NFL is far more of a year round commitment these days.
But that does not mean that Brown could not end up making an appearance. He could show up for spring training, taking some fly balls and getting a few cuts in the batter’s box. Russell Wilson, another former baseball prospect, does just that. Brown may do the same in the coming years.
A.J. Brown still thinks about being a two sport player at times. Maybe he will suit up for the San Diego Padres during spring training at some point.
