Bryce Harper has a platform of 1.7 million followers on Instagram, and he’s using it to express his frustration with the MLB lockdown is a comical way.

With the MLB lockout pushing the 2022 season back even further, players and coaches have plenty of time on their hands now. Some players are attending the meetings, some are hitting the gym, while others are voicing their opinions about the lockout over social media.

As time is fading away and spring around the corner, players have been getting anxious to return to the diamond and more creative with voicing their frustrations over various social media platforms. Bryce Harper, however, took a more humorous approach.

On Monday, Bryce Harper posted on his Instagram story an edit of him in a Yomiuri Giants uniform (a team in the NPB in Tokyo, Japan) with the caption: “Aye @yomiuri.giants you up? Got some time to kill”. He also tagged his agent Scott Boras telling him and the Yomiuri Giants to “talk”.

The two-time MVP is currently under a massive 13-year, $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, so it’s safe to say that Harper’s Instagram story was clearly a joke.

Harper’s post was right after MLB’s meeting, which did not end in much success. After Monday’s meeting that lasted nearly 16 hours, there was no agreement between the MLB and MLBPA, leaving players (and fans) frustrated.

However, Harper is not the only one that has jumped to social media to joke about the lockout. In the same day that Harper posted his Instagram story, New York Yankees slugger Joey Gallo tweeted about his new Linkedin profile. His tweet racked in nearly 33,000 likes and over 3,000 retweets.

Harper’s post racked just in conversation too. After an account with nearly 64,000 followers reposted Harper’s story on Twitter, the tweet has over 3,600 likes, with many people applauding Harper and also hoping that he wasn’t half-joking.

And as MLBPA rejects MLB’s offer the next day, you can expect to see even more players post about their annoyance through social media.
