Nick Castellanos became an internet sensation back on August 19, 2020. While then-Reds announcer Thom Brennaman was apologizing on air for his homophobic remarks, Castellanos hit a home run. That set off an avalanche of memes and tweets where the call of his home run was inserted in awkward places. Castellanos ended up having a knack for that moment, homering during an on-air eulogy when playing against the Royals, during injury updates, and literally as horrific injuries were happening in games that he was not a part of.

It was just a matter of time before Castellanos struck again as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. That moment happened as he collected his first hit of spring training, which just so happened to come as the Blue Jays announcers were reading an apology from pitching coach Pete Walker regarding his DUI.

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos strikes again

One can tell that Castellanos is not quite at regular season strength just yet. If this happened once the games counted, there is no question that ball would have been launched to left center with Castellanos circling the bases as the broadcasters continued to read the interrupted apology. Instead, it was just a base hit.

It is clear why the jokes keep coming. If something serious is being discussed during a broadcast and Castellanos is at the plate, a home run is coming. Ever since Brennaman tried to apologize for his statements by a Castellanos bomb, he has lived for that moment.

Yes, his wife wants the jokes to stop. And maybe she had some points, despite becoming the butt of such jokes herself. But the jokes can only end when Castellanos stops doing damage in those moments. At this point in time, it is clear that is not even close to happening.

Nick Castellanos did not wait long to interrupt another serious moment during a broadcast. His first hit for the Philadelphia Phillies was perfectly timed.
