Corey Seager had made his presence felt at Globe Life Field even before he had signed with the Texas Rangers. Due to the pandemic, the Dodgers’ run to the championship took place in the Rangers’ home ballpark, where Seager destroyed everything in sight. His success at Globe Life had to play a part in his decision to sign in Texas.
Seager is doing his best to make certain that nothing changes. He requested to have the same locker he had during his time with the Dodgers when they were in Texas, fully admitting that he has superstitious reasons for doing so.
Corey Seager not changing anything with Texas Rangers
It is understandable as to why Seager would want to keep everything as close to how it was during his postseason run as possible. Back in 2020, the Rangers had hit 27 homers in their 30 games at the new ballpark. Rougned Odor held the Globe Life record with six homers in the building. Seager tied that in just nine games.
He did not stop there. Seager played a grand total of 19 games at Globe Life Field between the regular season and playoffs. In that time, he belted eight homers while driving in 22 runs. He was the NLCS and World Series MVP that year as the Rangers’ home field was clearly The House That Seager Built.
The Rangers are hoping that production continues now that he is wearing their uniform. He was a key part of their impressive offseason, one of the players they are looking to build around as they attempt to climb their way out of the AL West cellar. If Seager hits like he did in the 2020 postseason, that climb out of the basement could be much faster than expected.
Corey Seager is keeping everything as close to how it was during the 2020 postseason. That includes making sure he has the same locker with the Texas Rangers.
