Winners of 16 of their last 18 games, it was hard not to ignore the Houston Astros when compiling this week’s MLB power rankings.

Over the last 20 games for the Houston Astros, a span in which the team has posted a 16-4 record, Houston’s starting pitchers have allowed 27 earned runs in 116.1 innings. That equates to a 2.09 ERA and gives a big insight into why the Astros are now tied with the Los Angeles Angels atop the American League West standings.

How much did the Houston Astros recent play elevate them in this week’s MLB power rankings?

In last week’s MLB power rankings, we listed the Astros at number 12. Their recent play, however, has definitely called for a jump up in the rankings. However, if Houston is moving up, that means some other teams must be moving down (we’re looking at you, Toronto Blue Jays).
