3 potential trade targets for Atlanta Braves
By David Hill
Tommy Pham
The Atlanta Braves needed to remake their entire outfield on the fly last year. This year, they might just be looking to fill one spot.
There is hope that will not be the case. Marcell Ozuna could return to form. Eddie Rosario could return from his eye injury and start hitting once again. Adam Duvall could be that run producer that they had acquired from the Marlins last year. It may be a lot to hope for, but it could happen.
Nonetheless, it makes sense for the Braves to look for another option for the outfield, especially in left. Tommy Pham may have received far more attention for slapping Joc Pederson (a Braves trade deadline acquisition last year) than his performance on the diamond, but his all around game would fit the lineup.
Pham had produced a strong .247/.346/.418 batting line in his 228 plate appearances entering Tuesday, hitting eight homers and nine doubles while stealing four bases. He has gotten on base at an impressive clip, drawing 31 walks as he would be a solid option in front of the Braves’ run producers. Pham has also saved three runs in left, making him a clear upgrade over their internal options.
Tommy Pham may be getting more attention for his actions than his play, but that is fine. He could be a bargain for the Atlanta Braves.
