New Era has outdone itself with some truly horrendous hat designs recently. From rivalry hats that no one would ever want to hats with holes as part of their design to a series of hats that were covered in Clip Art, one has to wonder what market they are aiming for. That is especially the case with their latest Toronto Blue Jays hat.

Their series of July 4th hats are, by their standards, not terrible. It is a relatively simple stars and stripes motif as part of the background behind the logo. On the surface, the Blue Jays July 4th hat is a decent enough offering.

There is one small problem with the Toronto Blue Jays July 4th hat

The problem is that New Era forgot one important detail about the Blue Jays. They play in Toronto, which is decidedly not part of the United States. As such, they do not celebrate the Fourth of July. At least the argument can be made that the Blue Jays are in Oakland for the holiday, but that would be akin to having special hats for American teams to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

One would also hope that New Era would balance this out with Canada Day hats for every team. Canada celebrates their status as an independent country on July 1; maybe we can see a Red Sox or a Dodgers hat with a maple leaf on it to honor their festivities.

Chances are, this is not anything that anyone at New Era had thought of. After all, it is difficult to imagine that they have a Quality Control department considering some of the nonsensical designs that have come forth over the past few months. But any attention is good attention, right?

Next. Royals, Blue Jays match up well for trade. dark

New Era seems to need a lesson in geography. Someone needs to remind them that the Toronto Blue Jays are not part of the United States.
