There has not been much to find enjoyment about when it comes to the Kansas City Royals. That has left Zack Greinke to find his own way to entertain himself at the ballpark.

One such moment happened on Sunday. Greinke allegedly approached a fan as though he was going to sign a baseball, but instead took the ball, looked at the fan, and fired it as far as he could away. When asked why, Greinke said, “for my amusement.”

Kansas City Royals pitcher Zack Greinke keeps marching to his own beat

Greinke has been known to be one of the bigger characters in the game. His ability to overcome his anxiety issues, which had led to his walking away from baseball earlier in his career, to become a potential future Hall of Famer is impressive. He is comfortable in his own skin now, being himself and enjoying life on his terms.

That comfort has allowed Greinke to develop his personality and notoriety as an entertaining teammate, albeit in an understated way. Greinke had infamously brought a struggling Alex Gordon into a video room, showed a clip where he hit a home run, and told Gordon to do more of that.

Meanwhile, this could simply be a matter of Greinke ensuring balance in the universe. He throws baseballs for the amusement of the fans. In this case, he threw a baseball for his own amusement. He would have to throw a lot more baseballs from fans for everything to be perfectly balanced as Thanos aspired for, but it is a start.

It really should not be much of a surprise that Greinke fired that baseball away. The only real surprise might be that it had not happened before. However, if the person in question had been wearing clothes such as these, he may have had a better chance.
