Keeping Byron Buxton healthy and on the field for the Minnesota Twins has always been a focus for the franchise because of the enormous amount of talent and potential the 28-year-old outfielder brings to the game. After hitting his 20th home run of the season on Tuesday, fans can now get a full picture of what Buxton’s statistics might look like in his prime over a 162-game schedule.

Even Byron Buxton was surprised when he learned the statistics he has put together for the Minnesota Twins over the last 162 games

With all of the injuries Buxton has sustained over the past four seasons, along with the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, it has taken that long for Buxton to put together a stretch of 162 games (the amount of a full MLB season) to see what kind of numbers he could put up at the plate for the Minnesota Twins. Those numbers, by the way, once observed, have been impressive.

Dating back to 2019 through Tuesday’s action, Buxton has hit 52 home runs in his last 162 games. When those numbers were told to him by Twins reporters, Buxton was clearly caught off-guard. Check out the reaction and comments below.

Those 52 home runs go along with 36 doubles and 95 RBI, numbers that would do well for the Twins, especially this season with the team holding a three-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians heading into play on Wednesday.

There’s also this fun little fact when it comes to Buxton’s power…

Buxton’s 20 home runs this season are already a career-high, and his power has made a difference for the Twins. If he can continue to stay healthy and continue to flex his home run swing, who knows what numbers he can put together in Minnesota over his next 162 games.
