DENVER — Prior to beginning a four-game series at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin gave an injury update on Jurickson Profar.

Here is the latest injury news and updates on Jurickson Profar of the San Diego Padres

Profar was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list following a collision in Thursday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. Profar was playing left field when he collided with shortstop C.J. Abrams when trying to track down a fly ball of the bat of Tommy La Stella.

In a scary moment, the 29-year-old Profar collapsed as he was being helped off the field following the collision. Profar was eventually placed on a stretcher and taken off the field on a cart. He was examined at a local hospital and discharged, then was placed on the injured list on Friday.

Melvin said that Profar looked to be on track to return before the All-Star break,

“Jurickson is doing well. We hope it’s only a seven-day event for him,” Melvin said. “There are some things he has to clear in concussion protocol to move forward, but we’re still hoping for a seven-day stint and he’s still feeling great.”

Melvin added that Profar is “doing some baseball activities” that includes running, adding, “I think it’s all good as far as that goes.”

On Monday, Jake Cronenworth was slotted into the leadoff role as Melvin continued to find the right answer at the top of the order with Profar unavailable.

“With Jurickson out, it’s going to be a little bit of trial and error at the leadoff spot,” Melvin said.
