As we discussed in this article, the Subway Series pitching matchups certainly seem to favor the Mets this week, with Scherzer and Jacob deGrom scheduled to pitch against Germán and Frankie Montas. It could well be a boost for the Metropolitans, a team that has posted a 15-7 record since the start of August and sits on top of the National League East standings with a four-game advantage over the Atlanta Braves.

Meanwhile, the Bronx Bombers are 5-14 in the month of August and avoided a four-game sweep at home at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays with a 4-2 win on Sunday. That victory kept the lead for the Yankees in the American League East at eight games over the Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Next. Yankees manager showed some fire before win over Toronto. dark

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (Eastern) The game will be broadcast in New York on WPIX (Mets feed) and YES Network (Yankees feed). Outside of New York, the contest will be shown on MLB Network as well as MLB.tv.
