The presumed starting lineup for Team USA may be set for the World Baseball Classic.
While Team USA had an impressive lineup, they were missing a shortstop. That has changed as of Friday as Chicago White Sox infielder Tim Anderson has been confirmed as part of the roster.
Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson gives Team USA even more firepower
A two time All Star and the 2019 AL batting champion, Anderson has produced a lifetime .288/.316/.442 batting line with 97 homers and 161 doubles in his 3284 plate appearances, stealing 104 bases. Those numbers are even better since the start of the 2019 season as he has batted over .300 each year, reaching double digits in homers and steals in each year aside from 2020.
Anderson adds another all around player to the Team USA roster. With Mike Trout as the team captain, they have already brought in Mookie Betts, Bryce Harper, Cedric Mullins, Paul Goldschmidt, Trevor Story, Nolan Arenado, Pete Alonso, and J.T. Realmuto as they look to take home another WBC title.
There is still some work left to be done. Trout still needs to add an entire pitching staff as they have yet to add either a starter or a reliever to the roster. Mullins is the one bench option, although having a bench that begins with a player that joined the 30-30 club in 2021 is an amazing option. At this point, there is no question that Team USA will have a ridiculous lineup for the WBC and will rightfully be considered one of the favorites.
