The New York Mets have one goal for the 2022 campaign – to win the World Series.

All of their moves have been with that goal in mind. From shoring up the rotation with Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt to signing Mark Canha and Starling Marte in the offseason, to their deadline moves to improve their depth, just reaching the postseason is not going to be enough. Owner Steve Cohen had said that the goal was to win a championship and he has put his money where his mouth is.

Buck Showalter gives another reason for New York Mets to win World Series

If the Mets needed any extra motivation, manager Buck Showalter is ready to provide that for them. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Showalter made a strong suggestion that he will dye his hair should the Mets win it all this year.

While a color has yet to be determined, there are two that spring to mind. It would make sense for Showalter to dye his hair blue or orange, if not both, to celebrate a World Series title. After all, those are the Mets’ colors and it would be fitting.

This could also be something that the Mets could use for the fans. Let them vote for the options on social media, with Showalter dying his hair to whatever color the fans decide. Having the blue/orange combo could be an option as well and could be the overwhelming favorite. It would also give the fans an added connection to the team.

No matter what, a championship would be vindication for Showalter. He had been regarded as a manager who could get a team to the cusp, but never actually finishes the job. Showalter has gotten out of the first round only once in his five trips to the postseason, only to get swept in the 2014 ALCS by the Royals. A title would change his career narrative dramatically.
