Texas Rangers getting look at future with Josh Jung
The Texas Rangers are finally getting a look at another piece for the future.
Josh Jung is finally healthy and has been starting to heat up at Triple-A. Now, with just under a month left in the season, he is set to be promoted to the majors, making his debut on Friday.
Josh Jung gives Texas Rangers look at possible building block
This promotion has been anticipated for some time. It was possible that Jung would have broken camp with the Rangers, slotting in as their primary third baseman on Opening Day. However, he injured his shoulder while lifting weights, requiring surgery that sidelined him until August.
He has been solid since his return to Triple-A. Jung has posted a .273/.321/.525 batting line in his 106 plate appearances, hitting six homers and seven doubles. He would give the Rangers yet another powerful bat in what could be a dangerous lineup for years to come.
That is certainly part of the plan. The Rangers have begun to put together their core for the present and future, with Jung expected to join Corey Seager and Marcus Semien as key parts of their lineup for the foreseeable future. While they had an impressive spending spree last offseason, the Rangers are just getting started.
Jung will now give them a glimpse of what that future could hold. While there is still plenty of work to be done with the roster, especially on the pitching side, the future is seemingly bright in Texas. It will be even brighter if Jung can live up to his potential. He now has the last few weeks of the season to show what he can do.
The Texas Rangers are finally bringing their top prospect to the majors. Josh Jung will be able to give them a glimpse into the future.
