Andrew Benintendi

While most of the New York Yankees attention will be focused on Aaron Judge, there is another outfielder that they need to bring back.

Andrew Benintendi was exactly the piece they needed to solidify the lineup. A Gold Glove caliber left fielder, he makes plenty of contact and can draw a walk. It was not a surprise that he slotted all over the lineup, including appearances at the top of the batting order, before he was injured.

His injury also further exposed a fatal flaw for the Yankees. They were entirely too dependant on the home run for most of their offense, something that proved to be their undoing against the Astros. Not having Benintendi and DJ LeMaheiu in the lineup showed how flawed they were.

Benintendi is a free agent as well this offseason. He will arguably be the top left fielder available, and at 28 years old, is still in his prime. He may command a much higher salary than expected, but the Yankees absolutely need a player of his skillset in the lineup. Considering that he is open to a return and did begin to fare well once he became acclimated to New York, he should be someone the Yankees target.

The New York Yankees need another bat capable of producing high levels of contact in their lineup. Andrew Benintendi needs to be a priority for the Yankees this year.
