Michael Conforto

Chances are, Michael Conforto is going to land a one year deal as he looks to prove himself in 2023. The Tampa Bay Rays could be the perfect landing spot.

Conforto had expected to be in the beginning of a multi-year deal already. However, he had been coming off of a down year in 2021 and rejected the Qualifying Offer to test free agency. He injured his shoulder during the lockout, eventually needing surgery despite Scott Boras claiming that Conforto was healthy. Likewise, that contract that Boras continually claimed was around the corner never materialized.

When healthy, Conforto could be the type of player that the Rays need in the lineup. He hit at least 27 homers from 2017 through 2019, displaying the type of power that the Rays need to find. His ability to draw a walk and respectable contact rates would also fit in a lineup that struggled to get on base and hit for power.

He would also solve an issue defensively. Manuel Margot is going to be counted on in center next season now that Kevin Kiermaier will be out the door. This leaves a hole in right that the Rays were going to need to fill. Conforto could not only be the impact bat that they need, but would slot perfectly into their defensive alignment.

The Tampa Bay Rays need to find an impact bat for their lineup. Michael Conforto could be exactly that at a bargain price.
