The Colorado Rockies have not played a game since October 5. They somehow do not have the fewest wins of a team based in Colorado since the beginning of October.
Instead, that honor goes to the Denver Broncos. The Rockies won three games after the calendar flipped to October. Meanwhile, as Jake Shapiro from 104.3 The Fan pointed out, the Broncos have just one win in that time frame.
Colorado Rockies showing how bad Denver Broncos actually are
That is not the only depressing stat for Broncos fans. Former Purple Row writer Matt Gross pointed out that the Rockies won four games scoring 13 or more runs in 2022. The Broncos, meanwhile, have won just twice when scoring 13 or more points. Remember Rockies fans, it could be much worse.
The Rockies receive a great deal of derision due to their overly positive outlook and general inability to see the obvious. After all, they did not trade anyone at either of the past two trade deadlines despite being clearly out of playoff contention. Trevor Story, Jon Gray, Daniel Bard, and other players could have helped move their rebuilding process closer to completion.
But it could always be worse. The Broncos acquired former Rockies draft pick Russell Wilson to solidify the quarterback position. Randy Gregory and D.J. Jones headlined a series of moves meant to improve the defense. This was supposed to be the year that the Broncos returned to glory. Instead, they have won just three games all season, or the exact amount the Rockies won during their final games in October.
The Colorado Rockies performance in 2022 was not going to be mistaken for a major league juggernaut. But they were better than the Broncos have been since the calendar flipped to October.
