New York Yankees going to need to increase Aaron Judge offer
The New York Yankees have been clear that they want to keep Aaron Judge around. They are going to need to improve their offer to do so.
According to Jeff Passan at ESPN, the Yankees have made a new offer to Judge. This deal would be for eight years and worth approximately $300 million, although the Yankees said it would not be their final offer.
New York Yankees need to add more to Aaron Judge offer
That is not the first offer that the Yankees have made to Judge. They had an offer in his hand shortly after the 2022 campaign was officially over. That offer also had not stopped Judge from making visits during free agency, seeing what they have to offer, and getting ideas for a potential contract.
Those visits clearly made an impact on the Yankees as well. They added an extra year and another $83 million to the offer they made during spring training when Judge decided to bet on himself. Considering his historic season, where he set an American League record with 62 homers in a year that otherwise saw offense fall off across the board, Judge made the right decision.
It is also clear that the Yankees will need to increase their offer. An eight year deal worth $300 million would certainly be an impressive offer for most free agents, but that is not the case here. Some other team will outbid the Yankees. That is especially the case if Jose Canseco is looking into the future as he has claimed.
While it is easy to laugh at that prediction, Canseco could be correct. Judge may well land a ten year contract at approximately $380 million as he prophesized. Even if that does not turn out to be the case, he will get more than the approximately $300 million that the Yankees have offered. It is time to improve that offer.
The New York Yankees reportedly have a new offer out to Aaron Judge. Although that offer is better than before, they still need to add more.
