If Carlos Baerga is correct, then San Francisco Giants fans are going to get an impressive early gift for the holidays.
According to Baerga, the Giants are not only going to land Aaron Judge, but Carlos Correa is coming on board as well. As the Giants were determined to go after Judge and were focusing on landing one of the top shortstops on the market, they would take care of their top priorities in free agency.
San Francisco Giants could drastically upgrade lineup
On the surface, it would be easy to dismiss Baerga’s claims. He is not a part of any front office and is not known for breaking news in free agency. However, Baerga also broke the news that Justin Verlander signed with the Mets, beating all of the insiders in the game. He also had Verlander’s contract correct. Baerga also broke Trevor Story signing with the Red Sox last year. He clearly has sources.
Both pieces make tremendous sense for the Giants. Judge adds that power threat they desperately needed while dramatically improving the outfield situation. Correa allows the Giants to move on from Brandon Crawford after this season while adding yet another significant upgrade to the lineup.
The Giants would still need other pieces. The rotation could use some help and the bullpen needs pieces, especially in the latter innings. However, this would send a message to both the Dodgers and Padres that the NL West will not be a two team race in 2023. The Giants are going to be a factor once again. And at that point, there is no reason not to spend on those other needed pieces.
The San Francisco Giants could be making their fans very happy soon. According to Carlos Baerga, both Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa are heading out west.
