Minnesota Twins not waiting on Carlos Correa much longer
The Minnesota Twins are in a holding pattern.
There is no question that they have to address several holes on their roster if they are going to contend in 2023. Meanwhile, there is no question that the Twins want Carlos Correa back as the centerpiece of their roster. The problem is that, as several teams are interested in Correa’s services, he is waiting to make certain he has the right fit.
Minnesota Twins need Carlos Correa to make his decision
This puts the Twins in a difficult situation. Correa’s decision directly impacts the course of their offseason. According to LaVelle E. Neal from the Star Tribune, the Twins patience may not last much longer as they need to know what direction to take for next year.
There is another option available. Dansby Swanson may not be the same player as Correa, but he would be a solid addition to the lineup. Swanson is also likely to cost far less than Correa will, freeing up money for the Twins to spend on other areas of the roster. Since the Twins also need to address the rotation, bullpen, and other holes in the lineup, saving those millions could make a tremendous difference.
That may end up being the Twins’ decision. While they would like to have Correa back, and the players want their former teammate around for the long haul, it takes two to tango. Meanwhile, pitchers are coming off the board and the Twins’ options to upgrade the roster to are starting to disappear.
It all comes down to time. The longer Correa waits, the fewer options the Twins have. While time may be on Correa’s side, it is not for the Twins. And at some point, they will need to look elsewhere.
The Minnesota Twins have been waiting for Carlos Correa to make a decision. Their patience is starting to run out as they look to improve their roster.
