In theory, the Miami Marlins should be an active team on the trade front.

The Marlins have been clear that they are willing to trade pitching to augment their lineup. After watching some of the contracts that have been handed out this offseason, one would imagine that other teams would in plenty of contact with general manager Kim Ng to make a deal.

Does anyone want the Miami Marlins pitchers?

To this point, nothing has happened. According to Bob Nightengale from USA Today, the Marlins are letting teams know that four of their pitchers – Pablo Lopez, Edward Cabrera, Trevor Rogers, and Jesus Luzardo – are still available for trade for upgrades to their lineup.

This has also been the case since last offseason. The Marlins had made it known that Lopez was available on the trade block, as were their other arms. Yes, some of those pitchers were essentially untouchable, such as Eury Perez and Sandy Alcantara, but the arms that Miami made available should be enough to generate some interest.

And maybe the Marlins have received offers. Maybe there have been some ongoing talks where the Marlins would trade one of those arms for needed help, either in the outfield or behind the plate. It is entirely possible that a deal could come down at any point in time with the Marlins sending one of their pitchers elsewhere in an attempt to bolster the lineup.

However, it is not necessarily a good sign that the Marlins need to send those reminders that they have pitchers available. Teams may view their asking price in terms of major league ready players as too high. The Marlins can make their pitchers available all they want, but it takes two to make a deal work.

The Miami Marlins still have pitchers available for trade in a quest to upgrade their lineup. That has been the case for over a year now.
