New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge continues to be honored for his historic 2022 season.

His latest honor will be from the City of New York itself. As reported by Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Judge will receive a key to the city.

Key to city latest honor for New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge

Judge may have single-handedly carried the Yankees to the postseason last year as there were stretches of time when he was their entire offense. He posted a .311/.425/.686 batting line in his 696 plate appearances, hitting an American League record 62 homers. His offensive onslaught helped mitigate a Yankees lineup that was hammered by injuries and disappointing performances.

He received plenty of accolades for his performance as well. Judge was named the 2022 AL MVP, took home his third Silver Slugger award, was named the Sporting News Player of the Year and the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year, won the Hank Aaron Award, and was named to the All MLB first team. To top it all off, Judge also signed a nine year extension worth $360 million to become the first position player to eclipse the $40 million per year mark.

Judge is not the first baseball player to receive the honor. The 2009 Yankees, the 1969 Mets, and Doc Gooden are amongst those who have received a key to the city. Judge is joining an illustrious list of dignitaries and celebrities.

The Yankees are going to need Judge to continue to perform as they hope to end their championship drought. His powerful bat is going to be the biggest key to their hopes as the lineup is essentially going to be the same as it was last year. Another Judge or Bust offense is entirely possible.
