We are another day closer to the start of spring training, and there’s plenty of MLB news from around the league to discuss, including some buzz surrounding the jerseys of the St. Louis Cardinals.

St. Louis Cardinals news: City Connect uniforms are coming in 2024

Get ready, St. Louis. It’s still going to be more than a year (the 2024 season), but the Cardinals will have a new uniform option with the City Connect reportedly being rolled out for the ’24 campaign.

We theorized on what the City Connect uniforms could look like in St. Louis in this article. With red sounding like the primary color, it will be interesting to see how the Cardinals pay tribute to the Gateway City.

Detroit Tigers news: A change in the broadcasting booth

For Tigers fans, there will be a tweak in the television booth for the 2023 season, with Jack Morris reportedly not returning to the broadcast team. The former Detroit pitcher and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame has been an analyst with now-Bally Sports Detroit since 2019, but that time appears to be coming to an end.

Morris has come under fire in the past for mocking Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani with an Asian accent on air. He was suspended for three weeks and apologized for the incident.

New York Mets news: World Baseball Classic impacting infield

With the World Baseball Classic (WBC) scheduled to begin on March 11, many MLB teams will see some of their superstars not in camp as they represent their individual countries on the diamond. The New York Mets could be one of the teams most impacted by the WBC schedule.

Bob Nightengale points out in this article that all of New York’s starting infielders are expected to take part in the WBC with first baseman Pete Alonso and second baseman Jeff McNeil playing for Team USA, shortstop Francisco Lindor suiting up for Team Puerto Rico, and third baseman Eduardo Escobar playing for Team Venezuela.

While these four Mets will be away from the team facilities, preparing and playing in the World Baseball Classic isn’t expected to impact them in any way as they get ready to open the season on March 30 in Miami against the Marlins.
