Can the Phillies redeem Philadelphia’s losing ways?
Philadelphia has been going through the motions for quite some time … then something miraculous happened. The Phillies, Eagles and Union all made it their respective league finals. Unfortunately, all three teams just could not bring the hardware home to Philly. While it was heartbreak for all three championships, Philly can ride high knowing that this is only the beginning of a potential Boston-type championship runs. Boston fans being born in the 2000s were able to grow and see 17 championships between their beloved teams.
Philadelphia seems like they are beginning to turn that page being led by stars of each team with Bryce Harper, Jalen Hurts, Joel Embiid, Andre Blake and Carter Hart. Each team has a core of players who are young or are still growing.
Looking at the teams, the most likely team to hit the championship next should be the Philadelphia Phillies
Dave Dombrowski loaded up this offseason after the Phillies got to the promised land in October and fell short by two wins. Trea Turner and Tajuan Walker were two pieces on this roster that were needed tremendously. The Phillies fell short from not having an extremely consistent hitter or a legit fourth starter. Adding some more pieces to the bullpen and the bench should have this team poised to make a push for sure.
Dombrowski also will most likely be active at the trade deadline depending on where the Phillies are sitting at the time, but he will also see what the farm system has to offer this team as well. If anyone can get the young talent to take the next step, it will be Rob Thomson. The work he did with Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott to help get them to the point where they are currently and knowing they can only get better speaks volume to not only his management style, but the respect he has earned from those players to listen to what he has to say.
We saw just how much this team loves their skipper and just how much he cares for them during each celebration of each round of the playoffs. This team has opened up and showed the whole world their personality and that can go along way for a team who knows who they are and who they want to be. Watching a team who is open with the fans and with each other, it makes them dangerous. No restrictions on how they celebrate or any holding back during media availability.
This also allows everyone on the team to hold each other accountable. Being able to do this helps everyone get to a better mindset and ability to see and play the game. Whether it’s someone not hustling up to first or batting selfishly. This team is like a family, and it absolutely shows.
Get ready Philadelphia, another hunt for Red October begins soon and it will be much different from last season!
