Watch Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez annihilate a Red Sox pitch
It was a game today at Steinbrenner Field. The Boston Red Sox played the New York Yankees in an all-out brawl of a baseball game. With the Red Sox up 11-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Yankees kids showed up for some exciting heroics.
Yankees prospect Jasson “The Martian” Dominguez crushed a three-run shot with two outs in the ninth. It was his third of the spring, and it is hard not to get excited every time this kid gets subbed into the lineup.
The very next at-bat, Andres Chaparro blasted a solo home run to close the gap to 11-7. Subsequently, the Red Sox held off the Yankees to finish the inning and close-out the game.
Boston put up a five-run sixth inning on the strength of a Narciso Crook three-run shot to deep left center. Crook went 2-for-3 with two homers and 5 RBI overall. Narciso has had a fantastic spring so far for the Red Sox, cementing himself in opening-day roster talk. He is making his case to be Boston’s everyday left fielder.
Aliens do exist: The Martian is real for the New York Yankees
The Martian, Jasson Dominguez, is batting .438 (7-for-16) with three home runs, seven runs scored, seven RBI, three walks, a stolen base, and a 1.526 OPS. He is barely 20 years old, yet Yankees manager Aaron Boone is impressed with his maturity and patients at the plate.
“There’s no panic up there,” Boone stated. “It’s good to see him really get into one. He seems like a confident kid that likes playing the game amongst friends. There’s an ease to which he goes about his business.”
The nickname “Martian” is appropriate, if not understated. However, Kryptonian might be more accurate. Unfortunately, with the depth of talent on the Yankees, MLB fans may not see him in the big leagues until later this year.
Also making an impact for the Yankees in spring training is Andres Chaparro, a non-roster invite. He has played astounding ball at Double-A Somerset, playing first and third. He hit an impressive .289 with 19 homers, 52 RBI, and 36 runs scored. Despite his eye-opening year, he is only ranked 26th on the Yankees prospect list but will be rocketing up that list after this spring.
These kids in Tampa are really something to see. There is a ton of talent and pure baseball gold in the Yankees farm system. It is apparent the Yankees need to move on from some of the overpriced contracts and get these kids up to the show. When they are fully developed, the table is set to make another decade-long run and establish the next Yankee dynasty under Captain Aaron Judge.
