The Washington Nationals made a smart move by acquiring Dominic Smith for the 2023 season. Despite his down year in 2022 with the Mets, Smith has shown during spring training that he can bounce back and provide a much-needed boost to the Nationals’ lineup.

During the 2022 season, Smith struggled to replicate his impressive 2021 campaign, hitting just .194/.276/.284 with no home runs and 17 RBI in 58 games played. However, it’s important to note that Smith dealt with various injuries throughout the season, which likely impacted his performance.

In 56 at-bats, he posted a .250 batting average, hitting three home runs and driving in eight runs. His OPS of .752 is also very encouraging, showing that he has made solid contact with the ball.
